Job title: STEPDECK DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the step deck dispatch team. Monitor, coach, and evaluate dispatchers based on departmental expectations
• Analyze lane selections to ensure the team is avoiding low-RPM, high-mileage freight traps. Ensure all booked freight aligns with company profitability goals relative to driver CPM, OO expectations and fuel costs.
• Guide the team in independently sourcing high-yielding regional loops, triangles, and backhauls for machinery, industrial equipment, and specialized cargo.
• Lead from the front by actively jumping on the phones and load boards to secure premium step deck freight.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5+ years of verified experience in specialized open-deck logistics (Step Deck / Flatbed / Heavy Haul), with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior leadership role.
• Deep technical knowledge of step deck equipment capabilities, trailer dimensions (top vs. bottom deck), specialized securement, and industrial freight lanes.
• Proven ability to manage a team using performance metrics
• A strong track record of coachable negotiation strategies used to extract premium pricing from brokers and direct shippers.
